House removals in Newbury,
and wherever you're going.

Acorn moves homes across West Berkshire and nationwide, from studio flats to two, three, four and five-bedroom houses, and larger. No move is too small or too big. Packing is an optional extra, quoted with your move: the whole house, or just the awkward bits. Every move starts with a free survey, in person or virtual.

The Method

How a house move runs
through the depot.

01

Tell us

A friendly call or the form. We listen first: to the house, the date, the worries.

02

A free survey

In person or virtual, whichever suits. We take a proper look, get to know the move, and put a written quote in your hands.

03

Moving day

We arrive early in branded shirts, lay floor protection, and load the lorry without fuss.

04

Settled in

We carry everything in and set it down in the room it belongs, ready for you to settle in.

Optional extras

Add what you need,
leave what you don't.

Every move is carried, loaded and set down in the right room as standard. These are the services you can add to your quote.

  • Packing

Full or partial: the whole house, or just the kitchen and the fragile bits. Wrapped, boxed and labelled by the same team that drives the lorry.

  • Dismantling

Beds, wardrobes and modular sofas taken apart for the doorway. We bring the tools.

  • Materials

Heavy-duty cartons, tape, bubble and packing paper, delivered to your door across West Berkshire.

Plain talk

House removals
common questions.

Short answers from the people who'll be on your job. If something here isn't covered, ring the depot.

  • Where do you cover?

We work across Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford, Burghclere and the West Berkshire villages around them. We are based in Newbury. Pick a town from the list above to see the postcodes we run most weeks.

  • How much do house removals cost?

Every move is different, so we quote on what is actually there rather than a guess. The size of the property, how much there is to move, and the access at both ends are what change the price. After a free survey — in person or virtual — you get a written quote, fixed for the day we agree. Packing and materials are quoted separately, so you can see what each part costs.

  • Do you do long-distance moves?

Yes. We run moves out of West Berkshire across the UK most months, and have gone as far as the Isle of Wight. The team that quotes the move is the team that does it. Fill in the form with the new postcode and we will send a written quote.

  • Are your removals insured?

Yes. Goods in transit and goods at our premises are both insured, and the team is experienced in handling fragile, antique and high-value items. Boxes we pack are covered; boxes you pack yourself are not, so if you would like everything covered, ask us to do the packing. We will talk you through cover at the survey.

  • Do you offer packing and materials?

Full packing, partial packing, or just the boxes. Heavy-duty cartons, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap and packing paper, all from the depot. The packing team is the same team that drives the lorry.

  • Do you also do storage?

Yes. We keep things in store at our Newbury depot, container by container, alarmed and dry. Same lorry, same team. See the Storage page for collection from your area.
